We recorded most of Guido in one day, doing vocals later in the week. We really experimented with various tonal techniques this time around by messing around with computers and really old tube equipment to "fatten" up the usual digital sound. We went crazy with samples on this one, and folks really got a kick out of it. Some of the stuff we dug up was from our own personal answering machines, the memories always fly high when I listen back to this one! This was really exciting for us because it was our first really professional recording. We went to another little studio near Pittsburgh to layer all of the samples together, and the end result was quite entertaining. "Guido" was definitely the disk that kicked open the door for us. Folks often ask what the name means, and the answer is "absolutely NOTHING". I was fiddling around in the other room of the studio with an acoustic guitar playing the intro (or trying to, rather) to "Crazy on You" from Heart and far in the distance I hear David say "Listen to Guido El' Sorrio out there bashing and banging on that thing..." A title was born..
